1. What You Get
When you download or purchase AdvancedSkeleton, you receive a license to use the software under the terms below. This applies to both the free non-commercial version and paid commercial licenses.
2. License Types
Free License
- For personal, educational, and non-commercial use
- Fully functional — all features included
- Not for revenue-generating projects
Freelancer License
For solo operators only. This license is strictly for individuals who work alone — one person, no employees, no company structure. If you are part of a company, team, or organization with multiple staff, the Studio License is required regardless of how many people actually use the rigging tool.
- For one named individual who works alone
- Unlimited installs across all personal machines
- Unlimited commercial projects for that individual
- May share built rigs with animators who do not have AdvancedSkeleton installed
- Not valid for companies, teams, or organizations with multiple employees
Studio License
- For any company, studio, or organization with multiple employees
- Also for any incorporated business or legal entity
- Unlimited users and installs within that location
- May share built rigs with freelance and outsource partners
- No per-seat fees — one license covers everyone at that location
Educational License
- For accredited schools and universities
- All classrooms, labs, students, and faculty
- Annual license, renewable each year
3. Outsourcing & Partner Studios
A common question we get: do my outsource animators need their own license? Here is the simple answer:
-
Rigging requires a license. If an affiliate or outsource studio wants to build or modify rigs using AdvancedSkeleton, they need their own license (Freelancer or Studio, depending on their size).
-
Animating does NOT require a license. Once you have built a rig, you can freely share it with freelance animators, outsource partners, or other studios. They can animate with it without installing AdvancedSkeleton — the rigs work standalone.
-
You can distribute selectors, pose libraries, and rig tools to your team and external partners. Only the person building the rig needs the license.
4. What You Can Do
- Use AdvancedSkeleton on any project within your licensed scope
- Modify the code to fit your pipeline — we encourage this
- Share built rigs, selectors, and pose libraries with your team, clients, or outsource partners — they do not need a license to animate
- Install on multiple machines you own or control
- Receive free updates for the lifetime of your license
5. What You Cannot Do
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the software itself
- Share your license key or download credentials with others
- Use the Freelancer License on behalf of a company or team
- Use the software to develop a competing rigging product
- Remove or alter copyright notices in the distributed files
6. Ownership
AdvancedSkeleton is owned by AnimationStudios. Your license grants you the right to use it — it does not transfer ownership. You own everything you create with it: your rigs, animations, and projects are entirely yours.
7. Updates
Paid licenses include free updates for the lifetime of the product. We will notify you of new versions via email and our website. There are no subscription fees for one-time purchases.
8. Warranty
We do our best to make AdvancedSkeleton reliable and useful. However, we cannot guarantee it will work perfectly in every environment or with every third-party plugin. You use it at your own risk, and we are not liable for any issues arising from its use.
9. Support
Commercial license holders receive priority email support. Free users have access to documentation, tutorials, and community forums. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
10. Changes
We may update this agreement from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a revised date. Continued use of the software after changes means you accept the updated terms.
